Event Identifier J1GF6PRGI0H2
Suicide prevention is something that is very close to my heart and a few years ago I made a promise to somebody that I would participate in this event. Unfortunately, they are no longer with us due to suicide, so this year I have decided to fulfil my promise and jump into things(or more accurately, out of things).
“Ireland has the fourth highest teen suicide rate in the EU/OECD” -Well-being of Young People 2017 – UNICEF
YSPI help to combat this statistic by providing mental health awareness and suicide prevention programmes to schools, colleges and youth grouos all across the country. They work directly young people and those who affect them the most to help educate and support the community.
They operate a FreeText service where people in need of crisis information can find out information free of charge. They also provide funding for immediate access to crisis counselling for at-risk teenagers.
This year YSPI are aiming to raise €150,000 to fund Ireland's first mobile youth crisis counselling service that will travel around the country providing support to those that need it the most as quickly as possible.
Please consider making a donation to this very worthy cause.
But if you can't donate that's okay too. You don't have to donate money to be a part of the movement. You can get involved by simply TALKING about mental health. By asking your friends how they are doing. For far too long mental health has been a stigma in Ireland and around the world. But now that's going to change and you can be a part of this amazing change to help those that need help most.
Together we are stronger. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
