About YSPI and our Youth Suicide Prevention Work
Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland was founded in 2007 and our founding aim was to create a charity working to prevent suicide amongst the young people of Ireland specifically.
Our charity registration is 20070670 and can be verified with the Irish Charity Regulator. We are a tax-exempt charitable trust approved by the Irish Revenue Commissioners under charity number CHY18438 and the charity is also an approved body under the Charities Donation Scheme. Our registered office details are: Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland, 1st Floor, 59 High Street, Killarney, Co Kerry V93 N977. Our contact details are 1800 828 030 firstname.lastname@example.org. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm.
Now in our eleventh year we run a major schools information and education proggramme that really needs your support.
During 2018-2019 school year our facilitators will work, face to face, with over 12,500 secondary school students in around 70 new schools around the country.
We are the only youth-orientated national suicide charity and we work just for young people up to 22 years of age. You can work with us to support our services and your school community by helping to fund our dedicated Schools Outreach Team who provide our "Four Steps to Help" Suicide Awareness and Prevention talks for schools and interested organisations.
As you can imagine providing suicide awareness and prevention information directly to young people in a safe and supportive environment is critical to helping to reduce the frighteningly high rates of youth suicide in Ireland. With your help we can increase the number of talks that we are able to provide and bring this vital service to more schools, colleges and youth organisations.
Through our awareness and prevention work all across the country we are able to provide resources for young people, their friends, families, teachers, coaches and many more concerned people so that they all have the vital information they need to detect the early signs of pre-suicidal behaviours and help prevent more young deaths.
As part of our outreach work YSPI provides :-
training resources to schools, colleges and youth organisations
in-class talks to transition year and leaving year students
easy to follow suicide prevention programmes
24/7 crisis information services
research and attitude surveys amongst young people

FreeText Crisis Information
Since Spring 2014 YSPI has been providing a free to text crisis assistance service for people at risk of suicide or those concerned about friends or family. The service provides contact numbers and simple suicide prevention information and is totally free of charge to use. Our FreeText code 50015 can be texted even if you have no credit.
Our Freetext service has been a great success and we receive a high volume of texts every day. This vital service is not cheap to run and we receive no state support so if you can join our Skydive For Life 2019 we will be able to keep this vital service running, free of charge, for any who need assistance.
