Hello Friends,
Thank you for visiting my Campaign Page. I am fundraising on behalf of Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland (YSPI), and I would be incredibly grateful for your support in helping me reach the target.
Let me briefly tell you about the cause. YSPI is a national suicide charity and works with young people up to 22 years of age. Their work includes suicide awareness and prevention campaigns across the country, during which they provide resources for young people, their friends, families, teachers, coaches, and other concerned parties. Their goal is to help them in spotting early signs of tendencies or behaviours that could be pre-suicidal in nature and prevent suicides among youths. You can read more about them here.
About the campaign.
Once I reach the minimum target, I will be doing a 4 km (13,000 feet) tandem skydive at the Irish Parachute Club in co. Offaly. Now, I have no previous skydiving experience. In fact, I am so terrified of heights that I would never even consider trying anything like that just for fun.
Some obstacles we face in our lives, particularly at a young age, can seem very difficult - sometimes even impossible to overcome. They can lead to a feeling of hopelessness, which in turn could lead to drastic thoughts and decisions that cannot be taken back. Facing my fears is my way of sending a message to young people in such difficult situations. A message, that it is always possible to overcome your fears and doubts. Those obstacles seem so overwhelming now but I believe there are possibilities other than taking a step that is completely irreversible.
I intend to do the skydive on my 30th birthday, which makes it even more significant to me. I am hoping that my campaign will help today's youngsters receive better support when they need it.
