Hi everyone
For my birthday this year , I have decided to do a Skydive for Life.
For me, mental health struggles have been a very real part of my life. I've battled depression and anxiety for years, and at one point, I attempted to take my own life. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to receive the help and support I needed to get through that dark time. I had the amazing support of my friends and family throughout but unfortunately many do not and find it hard to open up.
I'm doing this skydive to raise awareness and funds for mental health. It's a way for me to show my support for others who are struggling and to let them know that they are not alone.
Jumping out of an airplane might seem like a crazy thing to do considering I am absolutely terrified of heights. But for me, it's a way to face my fears and to show that anything is possible with the right support. As great as my fear is of heights , it has nothing to compare to my fear of losing someone I love to suicide.
I know that mental health struggles can be isolating and lonely, but there is help out there. There are people who care and who want to help. I encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out and ask for help, whether it's from a friend, family member, or professional. It does get better.
I hope that by doing this skydive, I can help to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage others to speak up and seek help.
